Carla Marinucci is a veteran Bay Area political journalist best known for founding POLITICO California Playbook and for nearly three decades of California political reporting. Marinucci began her journalism career covering business, crime and politics, including work at the Contra Costa Times and San Francisco Examiner. She later became the Examiner’s political editor. She joined the San Francisco Chronicle in 1996 and spent roughly 26 years there as a political writer and senior political writer.
She has been recognized with major journalism honors, including the Society of Professional Journalists’ lifetime achievement award in 2013. In December 2025, the San Francisco Press Club gave her its Lifetime Achievement Award.
Joe and Carla will be discussing the November election results through the lens of their extensive experience. In addition they’ll share their ideas on politics in general and take audience questions. Garofoli and Marinucci are experienced and engaging speakers who combine journalistic insight with compelling stories from their years covering politics and public affairs. Our club looks forward to an informative and thought provoking presentation.
