The Democrats of Rossmoor general meeting will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026 in the Event Center. Doors will open at 6:00pm for a town square social with snacks provided by the club. At 7:00pm, club President Diana Doughtie will Chair the club’s annual meeting. Following that will be guest speaker Dave Metz, partner and President at Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz and Associates (FM3 Research). Metz has provided opinion research and strategic guidance to hundreds of nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses, and political campaigns in all 50 states.
With a focus on conservation, clean energy, and climate change, Metz has provided research on key message and policy issues to numerous environmental organizations, including The Nature Conservancy, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Wilderness Society, Sierra Club, and the National Audubon Society.
Metz has also worked with public health coalitions to establish precedent-setting soda taxes in Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco, overcoming millions in industry opposition spending in the process. Additionally, Metz has supported many of the largest land and water conservation measures, including seven statewide bond measures to protect land and water in California, as well as major statewide measures in Florida, Maine, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Alabama, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Oregon.
Metz received a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. His writing on politics has appeared in Campaigns & Elections magazine and in Classifying by Race, an edited volume on the role of race in American politics. He lives in Berkeley with his wife and two children. As a Wisconsin native, Metz also spends much of his free time cheering on the NFL franchise that he co-owns with 537,000 close friends.
