On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Democrats of Rossmoor will hold their April general meeting in the Event Center. Doors open at 6:00pm for a town square social; the club will provide snacks. If you want alcohol at this event, you must bring your own beverage. Representatives from the Monument Crisis center will be there. After a brief meeting at 7:00pm, the speaker will be Congressman Mark DeSaulnier.
Since January 2025, when the 119th Congress began its work, Congressman DeSaulnier has spent much of the time between sessions holding town halls in various parts of his district. He has talked about the issues debated in the House of Representatives and has listened to his constituents’ questions and concerns. His town halls have been filled to capacity.
Mark Desaulnier represents California’s 10th Congressional District which includes most of Contra Costa County and a part of Alameda County. He was first elected in 2014, replacing Congressman George Miller who retired. He currently sits on the Committee on Education and the Workforce, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and is the Ranking Member on the House Committee on Ethics. He has twice been recognized by the nonpartisan Congressional Management Foundation for remarkable constituent service.
Before his election to Congress, DeSaulnier served in both the California Assembly (2006-2008) and the State Senate (2008-2014). He began his political career in Concord, California, where he served on the City Council from 1991-1994. He was a Contra Costa County Supervisor from 1994-2006. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, and received a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross University. He moved to California during the 1970s where he owned and managed restaurants in both San Francisco and Concord. Everyone is welcome to attend this presentation.
