Margot Kuschel is a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Division Chief of UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations and
Director of the Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative. She is a leading researcher on homelessness with an emphasis on its effects on health. As head of the Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative, Kuschel oversaw the largest representative study of homelessness in the United States since the mid-1990s. While Kushel has a particular interest in older individuals who are part of this population, the study presented a comprehensive look at the causes and effects of homelessness in California and made recommendations for policy changes to address the situation.
