Voting Information

When & Where to Vote

A ballot for the Tuesday, March 5, 2024 Primary Election will be mailed to every registered California voter in early February. The post office cannot forward a ballot from a prior address; after moving (even next-door) one must re-register. Remember to sign the outside of the colored return envelope provided for the ballot and read all the information on the envelope.

The choice for President/VP that is listed on this Primary Election ballot is determined by the voter’s registered political party. Only registered Democrats will have the option to vote for the Democratic candidates for President and Vice President. Anyone registered “No Party Preference” will not have any Presidential/VP choice listed. Candidates for all the other offices are identical on all ballots irrespective of the voter’s political party.

Returning a Ballot

The last day to return the ballot is Election Day using either the US Mail or a drop box; the box nearest Rossmoor is in front of the Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Blvd. It’s available 24/7 every day until 8 pm on Election Day. Although you can turn in a ballot at a polling place, the registrar would much prefer to receive it earlier.

Voter Information Guides

Two Voter Information Guides will arrive in January (probably arrived already). These contain important details including supporters and opponents of each candidate and proposition, the dates and locations for early in-person voting, and more.

The second Voter Information Guide contains a sample ballot. This can be useful to prepare for actual voting.

Rossmor in-person voting

Rossmoor’s Polling Place for in-person voting will be open on Election Day, March 5, 2024, from 7 am until 8 pm in the Event Center. One can register at the polls and vote the same day.

Ballot Tracking

Ballot tracking provides an optional email, text, or recorded phone message three times: when your ballot has been mailed to you, when the registrar has received it back from you, and when your vote has been counted. Many voters find this reassuring. You can sign up online at Where’s My Ballot.

The November 5, 2024 General Election will follow the same procedures with ballots mailed to registered voters in early October and the Voter Information Guides sent a week or two prior.

Questions

The registrar is open 8:00-4:30, M-F. 925-335-7800. You can request a replacement for a damaged or lost ballot. If you did not get the Voter Information Guides, check with the registrar.

Although it’s possible to register to vote at the Polls, it quicker to register online but it must be done at least 15 days prior to Election Day. Visit the California Online Voter Registration website to register. Use the same link to reregister to vote if your address or name has changed, or you want to change political parties.

Campaigning: Window and Yard Signs

Political signs can be displayed only in the window in Rossmoor. The total coverage can be no more than 9 sq. ft. After the November Election, window signs should be disposed of in Landfill. To request a sign, contact: [email protected]

We need more volunteers to campaign for our endorsed candidates. This can include writing postcards, writing articles, tabling, making phone calls, texting, or knocking on doors. Learn about opportunities to get involved and take action.
